Sufficiency Despite ‘Efficiency’

Many dedicated workers have recently found themselves unemployed after decades of tenacity, timeliness, and commitment. This jarring new occurrence with its looming shadow of a technology-ridden, New Age job hunt may feel nearly overwhelming. Emotions take on a dizzying pendulum effect, as reality continues to set in: “My company of X years wanted to run more ‘efficiently’ without me.”

Then, there’s this…

“What about my benefits and retirement?” … “My family is counting on me. I am the only source of income.” … “What am I going to do next?” … “How will I find a job where I can earn as much?” … “I cannot start over at my age.”

This stream of consciousness and the uncertainties that come with it are all completely understandable and justifiable. You are not alone, and life is not over. All is not lost, and there is hope ahead. Furthermore, your identity is not gone – simply because a job is.

Normally, prior to publishing any editorial content, I would conduct extensive research and cite several professional sources, but not this time. My life’s experiences of career highs and unemployed lows qualify me to speak intelligently on this topic as a qualified expert, who can share what it feels like to give it your all with upward expectations, only to be downsized in the end.

But, here’s the thing… it’s not the end. Your story is not over. In many ways, it is just beginning.

The true Expert in this and all topics reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11 that “I know the plans I have for you,’ declares The LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’ (NIV).”

Have you ever considered that this may be a part of the Plan? A Divine Plan or an omniscient and customized strategy to get you from where you are to where GOD wants you to be? This door closed because that double door was opening.

Not your typical company blog? … No. There is no call-to-action or service promotions this time, but it’s what I felt was needed, per my assessment.

So, be encouraged… Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Take heart; there’s no room for self doubt (Hebrews 10:35-36). Quickly move forward in taking care of your business and be patient (Romans 12:11-12).

Despite their “efficiency,” remember that GOD is your “sufficiency,” both now and always.

I just believe that the best is yet to come!

Sincerely,

Marcey
